About Mammoth Ideas

If I’m not running my business or being a dad, you can usually find me in my art studio sculpting and painting curious figurative work. I am slowly developing a fantasy world filled with all sorts of strange fantastical creatures.

If you’re into that sort of thing, I’ve got a separate site dedicated to that side of my creativity that you can check out here.

When it comes to my role in the design-world, I’m a little bit of everything. I’m a designer, a coder, an account manager, a strategic thinker, and when necessary, a builder.

Fifteen years ago (after finishing college), I realized that the real-world application of design wasn’t knowledge that I had gained in school. Every fancy-pants agency I went to wanted work that was done while on the job, not projects I was able to work on for months at a time. That’s when I decided I would get my feet wet by working at a print shop for their in-house design department. I did this for about 4 years, at a flexography printer and a traditional offset printer, so I could truly understand the entire process from design to final delivered materials.

From there, I took my production knowledge and joined Hothead Studios in early 1999. I was with the company through a roller-coaster ride of economic times. As the number of employees fluctuated, so did my skill set. It gave me the opportunity to learn all of the ins and outs of a small design studio during my nine and a half years there. Then in September of 2009, I realized it was time to go out and forge my own path. It’s been a great experience, and I’ve had the pleasure to work directly with a lot of amazing folks in a wide variety of industries.

Through this I’ve learned that I truly enjoy helping strengthen my clients’ brands, sharing my diverse experiences along the way.
